A Brit holidaymaker left his wallet and £2,000 worth of belongings on the street in Dubai and claims he returned an hour later to find them untouched - so now he's ditched the UK to live there. Ally Law wanted to prove how crime-free the United Arab Emirates city was to pal Lee Marshall when they visited a fortnight ago so he tried to pull off a risky stunt to show him.
Footage shows the 26-year-old confidently put his £1,400 iPhone 14 Pro, £450 GoPro, and his wallet, containing his ID and credit cards, on a knee-high wall next to a footpath. Lee, 34, questions if he should try it with cheaper belongings but Ally refuses and the pair go for a walk down Kite Beach, Dubai, and return an hour and 22 minutes later.
Nervous Ally is relieved to find all his items 'untouched' and claims it proves the country is the 'best in the world' and that it wouldn't happen anywhere in England. The content creator was so astonished by the 'incredible' experiment he moved to live in Dubai on Tuesday [April 4], citing the country's 'lack of crime' compared to London as a huge factor.
Facebook users were left 'impressed' the items weren't stolen, with one claiming they'd be gone 'after walking 10 paces in the UK'. However, others claimed the wealth of the area meant people 'don't need to steal' and that it would be different in a poorer part of the city.
Ally, from Southampton, said: "It shows Dubai is a million times safer than London. You couldn't even put stuff in your back pocket there. I hypothetically told Lee I could leave my stuff, then I thought I'd do it to show him. He thought it was going to be gone so I wanted to test it.
"He thought it was dumb but I was confident nothing was going to happen. It's just a different world out there, People just don't steal. I think Dubai is the best city in the world right now. When we came over and I couldn't see it I was a bit worried but then I saw it was all there untouched.
"It was a fascinating experiment and it just wouldn't happen in the UK. I'm moving over there and this is a big selling point. England feels like it's falling apart and there's not much to offer. They can't even offer your safety. It's nice to have that over there.
"I guess the tourists are deterred from stealing by the punishments but because it's against the Muslim people's religion they wouldn't steal. I think that's a massive part."
Ally, who has more than 3.4 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, says he first visited Dubai in 2016 and loves visiting regularly. He claims to have seen people reserving tables with expensive handbags and leaving keys in their supercars without a worry.
