Police complete CCTV appeal regarding Bristol nightclub spiking

UPDATE: Police thank public for sharing their appeal.

Avon and Somerset Police has issued an update on a CCTV appeal into a suspected spiking incident in Clifton on May 13.

A spokesperson said: "Following our earlier appeal regarding an incident at the Lizard Lounge in Bristol, we have now identified the two individuals.

"We would like to thank the public for once again sharing our appeal."

In June, Bristol Live reported how a ground-breaking crackdown on drink spiking in Bristol had been hailed a success after reported incidents rocketed. There were 198 cases recorded by the police in the last six months compared with only 39 for the whole of 2019, a council meeting heard.

The campaign in Bristol – the only UK city where the trial is taking place – is focused on catching the culprit, or ultimately stopping them spiking drinks in the first place, by launching into action moments after the crime has happened to gather vital forensic evidence. Bristol City Council is spearheading the pilot in partnership with Avon & Somerset Police and Bristol City Centre BID (Business Improvements District), and 155 venues had signed up to the scheme by June.
