Bristol has topped the list as the most generous area when it comes to fundraising, according to latest figures from JustGiving. Our city was the most generous in the country when it came to helping worthy causes in the year 2022, followed by Bedford, Luton, North Somerset and London.
Around £590 million was raised for 23,000 charities and good causes last year through the JustGiving platform, it has been announced. More than 850,000 new crowdfunding and fundraising pages were set up throughout the course of the year.
Pages created to support the people of Ukraine garnered the most donations, with more than 21,000 pages set up and £52 million raised.
This was followed by those taking part in the London Marathon, who collectively helped raise over £40 million and more than 300 million miles were recorded on fundraisers’ Fitbits and Strava apps.

JustGiving’s youngest fundraiser was 16-month-old Violet, who raised over £700 for Yorkshire Brain Tumour Society by taking part in a Step into September challenge. Pascale Harvie, president and general manager of JustGiving, said: “The generosity shown and the incredible lengths that people go to in order to raise funds for charities and good causes is astonishing.
“This year has been really hard for so many people, yet we’ve seen a tremendous outpour of support for crowdfunders and charities.
“Every single person that has donated and or fundraised is truly helping to make the world a better place.”
