Cardiff City fans trash Ashton Gate toilets after defeat to Bristol City

Cardiff City fans trashed the toilets in the away end of Ashton Gate Stadium after their team's defeat to the Robins today.

Photos being shared on social media show both the male and female toilets in a sorry state, with the roof panels torn down and debris everywhere.

A spokesperson for Bristol City has confirmed that the damage was caused by some Cardiff City fans in the Atyeo Stand - and that the Welsh club has already offered to cover the cost of the damage.

It was a day to remember for the Robins as they triumphed with a 3-2 victory over their close rivals, despite a scare late on when Max Watters netted in the 90th minute.

By all accounts it was a fantastic derby day at Ashton Gate with 21,400 fans attending, which was the biggest crowd Ashton Gate has welcomed all season.

But Cardiff City fans did not take the loss well, with a group of them deciding to cause some damage before heading back across the border.

Photos posted on social media show the toilets in the Atyeo Stand completely destroyed, with the roofing ripped apart and debris everywhere.

Insulation panels cover the floor while water is visible on the ground, suggesting that a pipe may have been broken as well.

A spokesperson for Bristol City FC confirmed that the damage was caused by the away fans after the game, and said that both the male and female toilets were trashed.

Bristol Live understands Bristol City will be examining CCTV footage of the incident to see if the culprits can be identified as part of their normal response to any incidents in the stadium.

Fans of Bristol City swiftly condemned the damage done to the stadium on social media, but there were some humorous responses too.

One person wrote "toilets get battered everywhere they go," while another said Cardiff was "battling relegation anxiety".

Even some Cardiff fans condemned the actions of their fellow supporters, with one person writing "what is wrong with some of our fans" and another adding "absolute pigs the lot of them".
