Bristol City fans laugh off Nottingham Forest's deadline day offer for Antoine Semenyo

Bristol City supporters have laughed off Nottingham Forest's rejected bid for star man Antoine Semenyo.

Bristol Live can confirm Championship rivals Forest have attempted to poach the in-form forward on transfer deadline day, although The Robins have no desire to cash in.

City have valued the 22-year-old in the region £20m and it's believed Forest's offer falls well below that figure with Championship clubs, in particular, struggling to raise cash to land players on permanent deals.

Interest in Semenyo is inevitable after enjoying a blistering return to action following his injury with four goals and five assists in his last nine games, including a strike in the 2-2 draw with Preston on Saturday.

However, it seems City supporters won't be sweating on Semenyo's future this evening after laughing off Forest's initial attempts to prise him away from BS3.

Semenyo is contracted to BS3 until the summer of 2023 with the option for an extra year so City are not in a position where they need to cash in on their asset anytime soon despite losses of £38.4m.

It remains unclear whether Forest will return with a new and improved offer before the 23:00 deadline but the player remains happy in Bristol and is delighted with manager Nigel Pearson's trust in his progress and development on the pitch.

Semenyo isn't the only City player to attract interest on transfer deadline day, with Nahki Wells wanted by Championship rivals Cardiff and Swansea. The Bluebirds made their move for Wells on loan but manager Pearson has no desire to let his striker leave for a direct rival.

It appears Cardiff's chase for Wells is now over after reportedly turning their attention to Stoke's Sam Surridge.
