Brice Sensabaugh named to Big Ten award for fourth time this season

At this point, the Big Ten might as well name the award after him. For the fourth time this season, Ohio State freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh has been named the conference’s Freshman of the Week.

It was a week that saw the Buckeyes drop a close game at Nebraska, but follow that up it up with a bounce-back win over Iowa at home. Sensabaugh was especially impressive against the Hawkeyes, pouring in a career-high 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in a 93-77 victory.

For the week, the 6-foot, 6-inch, 23-pounder averaged 22.5 points while shooting 57 percent from the floor and 58 percent from long range. He recorded a double-double against the Cornhuskers with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

According to a release from Ohio State, Sensabaugh becomes the first Buckeye freshman to lead the team in scoring in 10 consecutive games. His 17.5 points per game is second-best nationally among freshmen this season.

And while earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week four times in one season is impressive, it’s not the best we’ve seen from an OSU newcomer. D’Angelo Russel was recognized seven times during the 2014-2015 season.

Sensabaugh will lead Ohio State when it hits the court next at Illinois on Tuesday.
