Brett Goldstein is confirmed to be making a guest appearance in the upcoming second season of the AppleTV+ show Shrinking. Goldstein, known for his breakout role in Ted Lasso, co-created Shrinking alongside Bill Lawrence and Jason Segel, who also stars in the series. The details of Goldstein's character in the show are being kept under wraps for now.
Shrinking follows the story of Jimmy, played by Jason Segel, a therapist who is grieving the loss of his wife. Jimmy decides to take a different approach in his therapy sessions by being brutally honest with his clients. The show explores how this unconventional method impacts both Jimmy and his clients.
While Goldstein has primarily been involved behind the scenes as a co-creator and executive producer of Shrinking, his upcoming guest role marks a return to acting on an AppleTV+ series. Goldstein's transition to acting in Ted Lasso, where he initially joined as a writer before taking on the role of Roy Kent, earned him two consecutive Emmy awards.
In a recent interview, Goldstein expressed his contentment with his role in Shrinking, stating that he felt more aligned with writing for the show rather than acting in it. He emphasized that, to him, there isn't a significant distinction between acting and writing, as both processes involve understanding emotions and relationships.
Season two of Shrinking is currently in production, with a cast that includes Harrison Ford, Christa Miller, Lukita Maxwell, Michael Urie, and Luke Tennie. Notably, Ford's role in Shrinking marks one of his first regular roles in a television series.
