Leicester City midfielder James Maddison reaggravated an ongoing knee issue during the 3-0 defeat against Manchester United and need to assess the player's fitness ahead of the weekend's match against Arsenal.
Maddison, 26, played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford as goals from fellow England internationals Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho ended Leicester's four-match unbeaten run across all competitions. It was just before representing the Three Lions at the World Cup that this injury first came to light after being substituted off early in the final Premier League match before the tournament began.
The attacking midfielder subsequently failed to feature in any of England's matches during their run to the quarter-finals and was sidelined for a further seven domestic matches after the resumption of top-flight football. Maddison had appeared to put the problem behind him as of late, featuring in Leicester's last five matches and scoring in back-to-back wins over Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur, but Rodgers has confirmed that is not quite the case.

"We have to see how James Maddison is," Rodgers said during a pre-match press conference. "He's still nursing a knee issue, so we'll just have to assess that tomorrow after training."
Maddison did not mention the injury during a post-match interview with Sky Sports at the weekend but was full of praise for the United goalkeeper. "David de Gea makes a few brilliant saves, and we have a few near-misses," the Leicester player said. "We were pilling on so much pressure, and you've got to score when you have that period in the game, because you know that you can get punished at this level."
United continue to be linked with the player ahead of the summer transfer window, so may well be concerned by the persistent knee pain that the player is dealing with. Rumours earlier this week claimed that the player is 'admired' by the club as an advanced midfielder whom they claim is 'one to watch' due to that positional versatility.
