Brendan Rodgers explains why Cameron Carter-Vickers misses latest Celtic match

Cameron Carter-Vickers is a notable absentee in the Celtic squad for today's Scottish Premiership clash with Kilmarnock.

Carter-Vickers, 26, had been sidelined for six weeks earlier already this season but managed to start Celtic's last three matches.

It's been a busy schedule, and that's why manager Brendan Rodgers has opted to leave the USA international defender at home for this one.

That means Liam Scales and Auston Trusty partner in the heart of the Celtic defence.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the match at Rugby Park, Rodgers explained: "He's OK. Clearly not perfect or else he would've been here today. He had three games in a short period of time after being out for a little period.

"So he done Dundee, Aberdeen and RB Leipzig in close proximity in terms of games. He just felt a little bit of fatigue in his hamstring with the work that we've put into him.

"But nothing serious. We didn't want to risk anything today, he will recover, and then obviously be ready for Hearts when we come back."
