Breaking: Nottingham Forest confirm first deadline day transfer

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Willy Boly on a two-year contract.

The centre-back becomes Steve Cooper’s 19th signing of the summer transfer window, and the first of what could be a busy deadline day. The Reds are building a squad to compete in the Premier League this season.

Boly becomes the second arrival from Wolves in the summer transfer window, following the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this month.

Forest are reported to have paid an initial fee of £2.25 million to Wolves for the player, but that could rise if the Reds secure Premier League safety at the end of this season. Boly himself pushed for the move, with Bruno Lage confirming that he didn’t arrive for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United at the weekend.

The Ivorian has fallen down the pecking order at Molineux over the last couple of seasons and is yet to make an appearance in 2022/23. The 31-year-old made a total of 11 appearances in all competitions last season.
