Man shot dead in Finglas as gardai launch investigation

Gardai are investigating after a man in his 20s was shot dead in Finglas early this morning.

It is understood that the shooting happened in the Deanstown Avenue area of Finglas, Dublin 11.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 4:30am.

"A man, aged in his 20s, was discovered with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The coroner has been notified and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination to be carried out by the State Pathologist."

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination to be conducted by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
