A busy stretch of road leading to the M74 in Uddingston has been closed today following a car crash.
Police have closed the A725 westbound on Glasgow Road in the town close to the M74 slip road.
Emergency services raced to the scene just after 8.30am on Thursday morning after receiving reports of a two-car smash.
Fellow motorists were stuck in heavy tailbacks all the way back to Uddingston train station for over an hour and a half with others saying four police cars, a police van and ambulance were all in attendance.
Other drivers claimed the accident was a "bad" one.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland told Lanarkshire Live :: "Around 8.40am on Thursday, September 22, 2022, police received a report of a road crash involving two cars on Glasgow Road near the M74 slip road, Uddingston.
"Emergency services attended and one woman has been taken to hospital. The road is closed westbound to allow for vehicle recovery."
