Brave Scot to compete in rally 20 years after his dad died in crash at same event

A Dumfries man will pay a poignant tribute tomorrow to his dad who was killed in a rally crash 20 years ago.

Roger Herron is set to compete in the Border Counties Rally two decades after his father Roy, inset right, died at the same event.

And he’ll be sitting in the driving seat with co-driver Alan Doncaster next to him – the man who was at the wheel of the Peugeot 206 that crashed into trees in 2003, resulting in the death of Roy who was aged just 50.
