ITV's The Chase contestant leaves Bradley Walsh speechless after taking minus £11k cash offer

Bradley Walsh was left gobsmacked - alongside viewers - after a contestant on The Chase took a minus £11,000 cash offer.

Jo, from Ripon, was the final contestant to face the Chaser on the ITV show last night.

Fellow players Adam and Hassan had ensured their place in the final Chase with a grand total of £29k between them.

When Jo took her turn against Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, she struggled in the cash builder round.

She only managed to secure £2,000 for her team and viewers were shocked when she took the minus offer, meaning a huge blow to the team.

As reported in The Mirror, for part of the game, she was then asked if she'd like a chance to move one step closer to The Chaser to try to win £46,000.

Her alternative option was to move closer to home - but she would have to forfeit £11,000 of the prize money.

Host Bradley couldn't believe it when Jo decided to move a step closer to home and take the huge minus £11,000 cash offer.

He was left even more speechless as she managed to make it back to safety by answering just three questions.

It would have given her three more chances at the money, if she hadn't gone for a lower offer.

Now with £18,000 to split between them, the three contestants took part in the final Chase and managed to beat Jenny, meaning they were each to take home £6,000 a piece.

Fans of the ITV show took to Twitter to fume over what happened.

"I am f***ing rattled after that episode. Will take the -£11k to get back then contribute one answer in the final which my dog could’ve got right. These people live amongst us. #TheChase," one wrote.

A second added: "Minus £11,000. Didn't answer a single question. Yeah, it's an extra question for The Chaser in the final but..NO!!

"You just wouldn't, would you? And as much as I love Jenny, no amount of 'The low amount is never an insult' can stop me thinking robbing £11k isn't.. #TheChase."

Fans were left even more annoyed as Jo barely contributed to the final Chase, with one writing: "Oh Jo. Just sitting there answering no questions aswell?? #TheChase," as a second added: "She’s not gonna answer any questions in the final chase either #thechase."

However, one viewer said Jo "did the right thing" by taking the lower offer, as they wrote: "I think she did the right thing, I know £11k is a lot of money but as Jenny said taking the lower offer took the pressure off her #TheChase."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
