Boy rushed to hospital after fire in Leeds family home

A boy and a man were taken to hospital over the weekend after a huge fire broke out inside a Leeds home.

Emergency services rushed to Holtdale Way at 10.24am on December 3 following numerous 999 calls. Crews from Moortown, Rawdon, Stanningley, Bradford and Leeds tried to tackle the blaze at the terraced property which housed a family-of-four.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire damage was so extensive, it is unclear if any smoke alarms had been fitted inside the home. WFRS confirmed a boy and a man were taken to hospital for treatment after suffering smoke inhalation.

The fire was out by 4pm that day. At this stage it is not known what has caused the blaze. A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "The service was called at 10.24am on Saturday, December 3 to reports of a fire at a home in Holtdale Way, Adel in Leeds.

“Six engines attended from Moortown, Rawdon, Stanningley, Bradford and two from Leeds to the terraced property which was 100 per cent involved in the fire. Four breathing apparatus were used as well as two hose reel jets."

The spokesperson added: "Out of a family of four, one man and a boy went to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Crews left the scene at just after 4pm."
