Boy hospitalised after falling from car on busy main road in Melton Mowbray

A boy was taken to hospital after falling from a car on a busy main road. The road in Melton Mowbray, on the border of Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, was closed by emergency services for a number of hours after the incident on Monday, March 28 at 4.45pm.

The A607 on the outskirts of Melton was closed for several hours on Monday evening, with Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service called to the scene. The road was closed in both directions while emergency services attended, between the junction with Kirby Road and Beler Way and it remained closed until just after 9pm in the evening, Leicestershire Live reports.

The child, whose age has not been released, was taken to the hospital and they remain there today being treated for minor injuries. Leicestershire Police are now looking to establish how they fell from the car. A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Shortly after 4.45pm yesterday (Monday 28 March) a report was received that a child had fallen from a car travelling on the A607 in Melton Mowbray."

"The road was closed while both officers and colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service attended. The child was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Enquiries to establish how he fell from the car are continuing."
