Boy charged with terror offence after ‘plan to target mosques’ in London

  • A 14-year-old boy has been charged with a terrorism offence in connection with an alleged plan to target two mosques in Sutton, south London.
  • He faces a charge of engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism, with an alleged intention to act on or before July 9 2026.
  • The teenager was also charged with racially aggravated damage to property, specifically a car window.
  • Arrested on July 9 in south London, he has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
  • Counter Terrorism Policing London and the Metropolitan Police have expressed concern for the Muslim community and are working with affected venues, increasing patrols in the area.
