Boy charged with terror offence after ‘plan to target mosques’ in London

London

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with a terrorism offence in connection with an alleged plan to target two mosques in Sutton, south London.
He faces a charge of engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism, with an alleged intention to act on or before July 9 2026.
The teenager was also charged with racially aggravated damage to property, specifically a car window.
Arrested on July 9 in south London, he has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Counter Terrorism Policing London and the Metropolitan Police have expressed concern for the Muslim community and are working with affected venues, increasing patrols in the area.
