A six-year-old boy who was rushed to hospital after falling into a frozen lake near Solihull has died three days after the tragic incident.
Police confirmed the youngster "lost his fight for life" in hospital as West Midlands Police announced the news with "heartfelt sadness".
Three other boys, aged eight, 10 and 11, also died after falling into the frozen lake at Babbs Mill Park, in Kingshurst, on Sunday. The 10-year-old boy has been named locally as Jack Johnston.
Hero emergency crews hauled the boys out of the lake in a desperate rescue effort around 2.30pm on Sunday and one officer had to be treated for hypothermia after trying to rescue the children.
Searches at the scene have now been completed and a cordon at the lake will be lifted by police this evening.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "It is with heartfelt sadness that we have to report this afternoon, the six-year-old in hospital has lost his fight for life. Our deepest sympathies are with the families and friends of those involved in this tragedy.
