A two-year-old boy will "always be remembered" after his died just three weeks after a devastating diagnosis.
Jacob Murphy was born 23-weeks premature and spent five months in hospital in 2017. But he had gone on to lead a "happy, healthy and normal life" until he was suddenly rushed to Whiston Hospital after developing a "slight cough".
Mum Chelsea, from St Helens, said her son's lungs had not developed properly after being born prematurely and he was soon diagnosed with the Adenovirus virus. Two-year-old Jacob "fought to the end" but lost his life in 2020, three weeks after the diagnosis.

Adenoviruses are a group of viruses that typically cause respiratory illnesses, such as a common cold, but can become a life-threatening concern for young infants and those with weakened immune systems. Tributes have since come pouring in for the "gorgeous boy".

The 27-year-old said: "We don't know how he got it and it has been hard we take every day as it comes. It is the anniversary of his death in two weeks but his birthdays are a lot harder, it's so difficult when you realise that he is not here to celebrate it. He went through so much and now he is not here. I miss him every day."
