A 14-year-old boy is seriously hurt after being hit by a car in Leeds.
The boy was hit by a Citroen DS3 as he crossed York Road at around 7.15am today (Weds). Police raced to the scene and shut the Leeds-bound carriageway.
West Yorkshire Police (WYP) have confirmed the boy has suffered "serious" head injuries and is receiving treatment in hospital. Now, specialist officers are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with the force.

A spokesperson for the WYP said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Leeds. The Major Collision and Enquiry Team would like to speak with anyone who witnessed, or has footage, of a collision between a car and a 14-year-old male on the Leeds-bound side of the A64 York Road in Leeds today.
"Police were called to York Road, near to the Irish Centre, at about 7.15am following a report that a Citroen DS3 car had been in collision with a teenage boy crossing the road. The teenager was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and is in a serious condition there.
"Road closures and diversions remain in place as investigations continue at the scene and drivers are thanked for their patience."
