Boy, 13, rushed to hospital after falling from Kilmarnock bridge

A teenager was rushed to hospital after falling from a bridge in Kilmarnock.

Emergency services descended on the town centre yesterday evening after the 13-year-old plummeted from the structure just before 5pm.

Fire crews, ambulances and police all raced to Green Street, between the Palace Theatre and the Salvation Army.

Motorists reported heavy congestion as mercy crews took over the one way system for the rescue operation.

Officials have confirmed that the youngster sustained a "non-serious" leg injury and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Friday, May 19, we received a report of a boy falling from a bridge in Green Street, Kilmarnock.

“The 13-year-old sustained a non-serious leg injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.”
