Fans of the Boston Celtics likely panicked slightly when they heard Jayson Tatum’s response to a question about whether his lingering wrist discomfort might need surgery in the 2023 NBA offseason.
“Maybe,” he replied via CLNS Media. “I don’t want to say yes. I don’t want to say no. It’s something we’ve got to look at once the season is over.”
Before you hit the panic button, however, keep in mind Tatum played the entire postseason last year with the wrist issue and said the team is trying to manage the ailment given “it does better with rest.”
That goes a long way toward explaining why the St. Louis native sat out Boston’s win over the Toronto Raptors this week, and it suggests Tatum may rest on other nights to help him manage that discomfort.
