Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown is known for his involvement in the Boston community, such as surprising middle school students with back-to-school supplies and expressing a desire to establish a “Black Wall Street” community in the city.
Until recently, the Georgia native was not known as an art aficionado, something Brown has chosen to share with a wider circle in an interview with SLAM!’s Deysha Smith.
“A good amount of our players are current art collectors,” shared the former Cal player. “I’m currently growing my art collection and looking forward to learning more about art and all its capacities.”
“As I learn and grow, I plan on sharing that learning process with the world, as well as my NBA counterparts.”

Self-taught Spanish artist Rafa Macarrón in particular is a favorite of Brown’s. He gifted one of Macarrón’s pieces to Scoot Henderson, the No. 3 pick of the 2023 NBA draft and fellow Marietta native, as a welcome to the league.
“Hopefully in time the piece will grow in value and art collecting will become a great hobby that (they) will learn to love and appreciate,” Brown said.
