Boston College OL Christian Mahogany to miss 2022 season with torn ACL

Boston College guard Christian Mahogany is expected to miss the entire 2022 college football season after suffering a torn ACL, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.

One of the top offensive line prospects in the 2023 NFL draft class, Mahogany was expected to follow college teammate Zion Johnson as a potential first-rounder in next year’s draft.

Now, he’ll set his sights on rehab and a full recovery, while the Golden Eagles look for the next man up to replace one of the nation’s best interior blockers. As far as his football future, Mahogany sounds like he’s leaning toward returning for another year in college, instead of making the jump to the NFL.

“I think I’m probably going to come back because it’s hard [after an injury],” Mahogany told ESPN. “I’m going to leave no doubt on my college career. Especially after an injury like this, I’m going to prove that I can still do it.”

After learning of the severity of the injury, Mahogany is doing his best to take the emotional roller-coaster in stride.

“I’m up and down,” Mahogany told ESPN. “Somedays it’s up, and some it’s down. I’m trying to keep a positive attitude. This is the plan for me. This is something that I have to overcome in my career. I’m going to make a full recovery and come back by any means necessary.”

He may not be suiting up this fall, but that doesn’t mean Mahogany won’t be close to the action, or missing out on making an impact for his teammates.

“I’m going to be around,” Mahogany told ESPN. “Whenever I come back to campus, hopefully soon, I’m going to be around. Whoever fills in my spot, I’m going to give them the pointers to be successful, whatever it takes.”
