The Boston Celtics are seen as the ball club most likely to win the most games next season in a recent analysis done by ESPN’s Kevin Pelton. Per the ESPN senior writer, “before and after the addition of (Jrue) Holiday, the Celtics have the NBA’s best projection by a wide margin for a second consecutive season.”
“It did not translate into the league’s best record last year, though Boston was No. 1 in terms of point differential — which is typically more predictive of future results,” adds Pelton, whose projections see the Celtics finishing the season with an average of 54.3 wins (exact win-loss totals are not to be found given the nature of the analysis, which Pelton explains at length in the original article).
Buy Celtics TicketsBoston’s next-closest peer in the East is the Cleveland Cavaliers with a projected average of 48.6 wins, and next-closest in the league after that is the Memphis Grizzlies, seen as likely to bank an average of 48.4 out West.
