Boston Celtics Hall of Famer Paul Pierce on the Los Angeles Lakers this season

When it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers, one would think Englewood, California, native Paul Pierce would have been a bigger fan of the club he grew up literally around the corner from. But as fate would have it, the Hall of Fame forward ended up playing for their biggest rivals, the Boston Celtics.

Pierce won his sole NBA championship against the Lakers in 2008, but now he has a more convivial relationship with his onetime opponents on the court, even going so far as to call his arch-nemesis LeBron James the greatest of all time as he broke former LA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record on as a member of his team.

Now the Lakers look like they might miss the playoffs altogether, and with a narrow path to improving the roster in future seasons. Pierce sat down with the hosts of the Showtime Basketball “What’s Burnin'” podcast to talk over the state of his former foes, from this season on into the future.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what The Truth had to say about the LA of today.
