BORIS Johnson called Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy shortly after announcing that he would be resigning as Tory leader.

The Prime Minister announced he intends to step down but continue as a caretaker leader until the autumn, though this suggestion has not gone down well with a large number of senior Conservatives.
