Boland buzz a boost for BBL's Hurricanes

Hobart Hurricanes will draw on Scott Boland's buzz and the confidence generated by a pressure-laden win as they seek to surge deep into BBL finals.

Hobart edged Melbourne Renegades by six runs at Marvel Stadium on Tuesday night, booking their spot in play-offs.

Wednesday's three games, including a clash between Hobart and Melbourne Stars, will determine how high Matthew Wade's side finish on the ladder.

But regardless of what transpires at the MCG, Tom Rogers believed a tight scrap with Renegades will hold his team in good stead for the finals.

Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh eased the Renegades to 1-138 in the 15th over, building the perfect platform to haul in a target of 183.

Rogers, Sandeep Lamichhane and Riley Meredith swung momentum, bowling superbly in a tough situation.

"We've had some close-ish games but we haven't really pulled one out of the fire like that," Rogers said after claiming the prized scalp of Finch.

"We really got ourselves back in that game from what was a pretty grim position.

"Which is nice, heading into finals. Nice to get one of those close ones."

Hobart paceman Boland is among the Test squad members to have rejoined their BBL clubs.

Rogers believes Boland, who snared 18 wickets at 9.55 after making his Test debut at the MCG, will hit the ground running.

"Hopefully he brings a good buzz back. He's a bloody well-loved member of the group," Rogers said.

"If we wanted to rush him back into bowling death overs and stuff like that, maybe there would be a little bit of a transition period.

"But if we wanted him to bowl up front and through the middle a little bit more; well I can't see why he can't just do what he's been doing at Test level.

"They seem to have found it quite difficult. So I'm sure that'll work just fine.

"He's a professional cricketer and a bloody good one at that. So I'm sure he'll be fine doing whatever role we need him to do."
