Body of missing Wicklow woman Helen Owens recovered as Gardai thank public for help

A search for a missing Wicklow woman has been stood down after Gardai recovered a body on the shore on Tuesday afternoon.

Helen Owens had gone missing from her home in Killoughter, Co Wicklow, having not been seen since 4pm on Monday.

A Garda spokeswoman said: "Following the recovery of a body on the shore, south of Wicklow town, Co. Wicklow this afternoon Tuesday 15th February, 2022 the missing person appeal in respect of Helen Owens, 82 years, has been stood down.

"An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required and no further information is available at this time."
