A motorway has been closed in both directions after a man's body was found at the side of the road this morning.
Police closed the M606, known as the Bradford Spur motorway, for around two hours today with a roadblock in effect between junction 3 and junction 2 following the grisly discovery at around 7am.
The move has caused huge traffic issues in and around the city with people caught up in it urging drivers to stay away.
West Yorkshire Police tweeted: "Emergency services are attending on the M606 after a man’s body was found by the side of the motorway just before 7am.
"Enquiries are on-going to establish what has happened.
"Road closures in place north and southbound from the Staygate roundabout."
Huge queues of traffic have formed in the area as a result of the road closure earlier today with traffic backing up to the M62, causing a travel nightmare for thousands of people going back to work after the Easter bank holiday.
Highways Yorkshire said: "The M606 is closed in both directions between Junction 3 (Odsal) and Junction 2 (Euroway Trading Estate) for a police-led incident.
"West Yorkshire Police lead the response to the ongoing incident and have closed the carriageway to allow them to work at scene.
"National Highways have resources in attendance to assist with traffic management.
""Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes.
"If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
One fed up driver tweeted: "Avoid Bradford guys ring rd west closed from M606, it's carnage around here."
