Police have tragically discovered a body in the search for a Scots OAP who vanished on the Isle of Skye three days ago.
Tom Stephens was reported missing from the Breakish area after last contacting relatives at around 5pm on Saturday, May 21.
The 72-year-old failed to make further contact which was described as “out of character” by his concerned loved ones.
Searches were carried out throughout the day on Sunday however police have confirmed the grim discovery was made this morning.
While formal identification has yet to be made, Tom’s family have been informed.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police on the Isle of Skye can confirm that a body was recovered from the Breakish area during searches for missing man Tom Stephens this morning (Monday, 23 May, 2022).
“Formal identification has taken place and Tom’s family has been informed.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Inspector Ross McCartney added: “At this time, our thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends.
“We’d also like to thank the public and our partner agencies for their efforts and assistance.”
