Gardai have launched an investigation after a man’s body was found in Kildare.
The grim discovery was made around 9pm on Sunday in Clogheen, a townland on the outskirts of Monasterevin, near the border with Laois.
The deceased was taken to Naas Mortuary for a post-mortem. Gardai say its results will play a key role in determining the direction of the ongoing investigation.

The local Coroner has also been informed about the incident.
As of now, the scene where the body was found remains sealed off.
The cause of the man’s death is yet to be determined and gardai say they are “investigating all the circumstances”.
A Garda spokesman told the Irish Mirror: “Gardai are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a male in Clogheen, Monasterevin, Co Kildare at approximately 9pm on Sunday, 21st of May 2023.
“The deceased was removed to Naas Mortuary where a post-mortem is due to take place at a later date. The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation. The local Coroner has been notified.
“The scene remains closed at this time.”
