A body has been found in a horror crash in the Highlands amid the search for a missing man. The discovery was made around 1.20pm on Sunday, September 18, when a grey Mercedes B class was involved in a one-vehicle smash on the A887 at Invemoriston.
Sadly, the body of a man was found at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of John Winton McNab, who was reported missing from Perth around midday on Tuesday, September 13, have been made aware.
The 86-year-old's disappearance prompted "increasing concern" from police, who were tasked with finding him, as he had not been seen or heard from since he vanished.
Following the serious collision, the busy Highlands road was closed for more than five hours, as motorists faced lengthy delays, as well as a 25-mile diversion, while an investigation was carried out at the crash site.
Cops now want to hear from anyone with any information on the collision in the hopes of establishing the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Sergeant David Miller from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances of what happened are under way and our thoughts are with John’s family and friends.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen John’s grey Mercedes B class between Tuesday, September 13, and Sunday, September 18, to contact police.
"I also appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible as you may have captured something that could assist our investigation.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1660 of 18 September.”
