Blues to sweat on McKay, Pittonet injuries

Carlton coach Michael Voss is hopeful ruckman Marc Pittonet has suffered nothing more than a corked knee but forward Harry McKay has sent a scare through the Blues' camp with his own knee grumble.

Pittonet suffered a game-ending injury to his left knee during the early stages of Saturday night's 35-point loss to Fremantle in Perth.

McKay was also forced to the bench during the first quarter after injuring his right knee.

Although McKay was able to return in the second term, he looked hampered throughout the match and finished with just one goal from three disposals.

McKay booted 58 goals last year, and the Blues will be desperate to have him available for Saturday night's clash with North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.

"McKay had a grumble," Carlton coach Michael Voss said.

"We'll have a look at that., I am not sure what that is.

"It was certainly affecting some of his movement and his ability to get up and down the ground."

Pittonet had to be helped off the ground after clashing knees with Fremantle big man Sean Darcy.

Voss is optimistic the injury isn't serious.

"We'll get it assessed on Monday but we feel it's a significant corkie at this stage," Voss said.

"We tried to get him going but he wasn't able to run.

"It's on the front of his knee, so he wasn't able to get going. I'm really hoping we have dodged further damage there."

Voss said Jack Silvagni and Matthew Kennedy were strong chances to return from injury against the Kangaroos.

Carlton skipper Patrick Cripps returned from a hamstring niggle to produce a mammoth effort against Fremantle that featured 32 disposals, eight clearances, and three second-half goals.

Star recruit Adam Cerra was solid with 32 disposals in his first match back in Perth since leaving Fremantle at the end of last season.

But Voss conceded his midfield group as a whole "weren't able to get the job done" against Fremantle, with the Dockers winning the inside 50m count 56-38 in the 14.13 (97) to 9.8 (62) victory.
