Hundreds of Blossoms fans have praised the band for giving them the “best night” at a gig in Liverpool.
The Stockport band, who are no strangers to this end of the Mersey - having played in Sefton Park last year - were back in the city once again last night. This time playing to a sold out crowd at Mountford Hall.
From the minute they took to the stage it was clear they were just as excited to be in Liverpool as their fans were to see them. Following a summer of festivals which included a Glastonbury Pyramid slot, the band were back doing what they do best.

Hits including The Keeper, Honey Sweet and I Think I’m in Love With You featured in the band’s first half songs. The crowd lapped up every minute singing each word back to the band.
Before some of the band’s hits were played, lead singer Tom gave fans an insight into how he came to write the words. Before belting out Ode to New York, he explained how the band had sent the track off to Netflix in the hopes of it being used as a backing track for an upcoming documentary. The band were later told it wouldn’t feature.
However it was Your Girlfriend that really got the crowd going. Tom explained he began writing the now hit single after hearing from a guy talking about his relationship problems.
Small, intimate venues are where the band stated their careers and developed their reputation so last night it became clear why they’ve got such a legion of fans. And, whether you think it’s too early or not, one of my highlights of the night was Tom leading the audience into a rendition of Wham’s Last Christmas. Even when the band stopped playing it’s backing tune, the audience kept singing.
The only song which could follow was one of the band’s earliest hits Charlemagne. It proved that no matter how much time had past, Blossoms’ fans still loved it just as much.
The band played for around an hour and a half but judging by the audience’s reaction when they announced their last song, it was clear they could have watched them all night. Taking to Twitter after the show, @Jack_Seddon said: “Something else that Blossoms concert then wow”.
Twitter user @Nfanning88 added: “@BlossomsBand genuinely that was outstanding. This is real life”. And @LDmh94 said: “@Jack_Seddon thank you, had one of the best nights ever wow loved it”.
