This is the bizarre moment police arrested a blind man after confusing his walking stick for a gun.
Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy Jayme Gohde and her Sergeant are under investigation in Florida after arresting 61-year-old James Hodges for "resisting arrest without violence."
Cops stopped Mr Hodges after concerns he had a weapon in his back pocket and asked for his identification, which he refused to show.
But despite showing officers he was not in possession of a weapon and it was indeed his walking stick, he was still asked to show his ID.
Mr Hodges' said he wasn't going to comply with the demand because he hadn't committed a crime - which is when officers handcuffed and arrested the pensioner.
He spent a staggering 26 hours in prison before being eventually released. After his ordeal he decided to release the bodycam footage on YouTube.
Since uploading the footage, Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter revealed to the Daily Beast he was "troubled" by the video and has ordered an investigation into the incident.
According to her arrest notes, Sheriff Deputy Jayme Gohde said she became concerned after seeing Mr Hodges cross the road despite the crossing saying don't walk.
But in the bodycam footage she can be heard telling him she stopped because she thought she saw a gun in his pocket.
He quickly reassured her and confirmed it was a "navigational aid." He said to her: "What's the problem, are you a tyrant?"
She responded: "Yeah, I am, actually. What's your name and date of birth?"
Mr Hodges' refuses to provide his ID when the cop claimed she was actually concerned with him for carrying a weapon.
She asked him: "Do you want me to put you in handcuffs right now?"
He then lofted his walking stick into the air to prove it was not a gun as she hit back at him: "You don't have to be a d*** to me."
To which Mr Hodges responds: "Well you're being one to me," as he asks whether he will be detained.
But the cop, who claimed she had no reason to detain him, asked to speak to her boss.
"He's right here," she pointed towards Mr Hodges, who explained the situation to the cop on the scene.
He was then put into handcuffs by the officers as he asks for their shoulder number and names.
Mr Hodges later confirmed he was legally blind and he used a walking to stick to help him through the dark on the way to jury service that day.
After filling out some paperwork, Ms Gohde asks: "Alright, Mr. Hodges, was that that hard?"
He responded: 'It's gonna be. I want your name and badge number."
The officer then loses her temper and says: "You know what? Put him in jail for resisting."
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has said they are investigating the incident.
They said in a statement on Facebook : "We are aware of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office body camera video involving the arrest of Mr. James Hodges on October 31, 2022.
