Black Front Doors Are Elegant, but If You Want to Boost Curb Appeal Like Christie Brinkley, Green Is the Only Way to Go

Christie Brinkley green door.

A front door color is one of the most crucial elements of a home's exterior; not only does it set the tone for the rest of the home, but it can also impact curb appeal.

Christie Brinkley makes the case for a forest green, as seen on the model's Instagram page. The green shade looks right at home next to the brick facade and white painted railings, and designers agree that this is a color worth experimenting with.

'Choosing a green front door color is an excellent decision for many homes,' says Shannon Beatty, founder of House Buying Girls. 'It provides a friendly bridge from your garden to the indoors. Dark shades, such as forest or hunter green, give you the classic look of refinement. Brighter hues like sage or olive offer a modern, earthy mood by contrast.'

While we can't be sure of the exact shade on Christie's front door, Benjamin Moore's Hunter Green is almost identical. It is a deep, true green with enough saturation to keep it from looking black in the shade, but it stays dark and sophisticated in direct sunlight.

Green outdoor furniture, like this lattice table from Amazon, will also do the trick if you aren't quite ready for a paint job. And of course, any natural greenery, courtesy of plants and trees, is a plus. Taking inspiration from Christie, I've listed some of my top green outdoor buys below, as well as highlighting why her chic green door design works so well.

Shannon says decorating with green is one of the best ways to increase curb appeal, with its warm, nature-inspired ambiance making it highly engaging.

'A green front door is pretty curb appeal magic,' she explains. 'This bold selection causes your house to stand out from the rest of the city. It makes a statement that draws the eye to the entry. Green is a friendly, welcoming color for many buyers. It complements perfectly with natural materials such as brick, stone, or wood. It is used to immediately change the appearance of your exterior with a fresh coat of paint.'

Whether you commit fully with a painted front door or start small with green accents and outdoor furniture, embracing this nature-inspired hue is an easy way to refresh your home’s exterior. From classic forest shades to brighter, modern tones, green instantly signals warmth, sophistication, and elegant curb appeal.

As Christie Brinkley and design experts show, sometimes the simplest change, just a pop of color at the entry, can make a home feel more inviting and stand out in the neighborhood.
