BJP releases manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’ for Lok Sabha elections 2024

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 14 released the election manifesto — ‘Sankalp Patra’ — for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP senior leaders at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

Mr. Modi released the party Lok Sabha manifesto which has a special focus on the poor, youth, farmers and women and asserted that the need for a stable government with a full majority was necessary when the world was passing through uncertain times. The Prime Minister handed over copies of the manifesto to the representatives of the four broad groups — Gareeb, Yuva, Annadata and Naari Shakti (GYAN) — who were beneficiaries of the government’s schemes.

Mr. Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the manifesto for the polls that are scheduled to commence from April 19.

“In the last 10 years, BJP has implemented every aspect of its manifesto as a guarantee. BJP has restored the sanctity of the manifesto,” Mr. Modi said at the release of the manifesto.

“The need for a stable majority government increases at a time when the world is passing through uncertain times,” the prime minister said, referring to the several conflicts the world was grappling with.

Mr. Modi asserted that the BJP will work towards implementing the one nation, one election initiative, and stressed that the Uniform Civil Code was in the national interest.

“BJP will start working on the promises made in the manifesto immediately after the results are declared on June 4,” Mr. Modi said.

The manifesto talks about implementing the “one nation, one poll” initiative, preparing common electoral rolls, abolishing waiting lists for train travel, expansion of 5G networks and organising Ramayan festivals the world over.

“I present this Sankalp Patra of the BJP as a document of ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ to the people of the nation for their blessings,” he said.

Reaching out the Tamil Nadu, where the BJP is seeking to get a foothold, Mr. Modi announced that the BJP will work towards building Thiruvalluvar cultural centres all over the world.

“We will build Thiruvalluvar cultural centres all over the world. The world’s oldest Tamil language is our pride. BJP will undertake every effort to enhance the global reputation of Tamil language,” Mr. Modi said.

Thiruvalluvar was a noted Tamil poet and philosopher.

The BJP had appointed a 27-member manifesto committee headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh that met twice to deliberate on its contents after the party had launched multiple exercises, including vans sent across the country and social media campaigns, to seek people’s suggestions.

‘BJP manifesto gold standard in world politics’

Union Minister Rajnath Singh said that the BJP has earned credibility among people by fulfilling its commitments, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees are seen as pure as 24-carat gold. Speaking at the release of the party’s ‘Sankalp Patra’, Mr. Singh said the BJP’s manifesto is seen as gold standard in world politics.

Govt’s achievements result of people’s mandate: Nadda

Earler, BJP president J.P. Nadda on Sunday said the government’s achievements over the last 10 years, such as the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution and the women’s reservation law, were made possible due to the clear mandate given to the party by people.

“The achievements of the last 10 years are a result of a clear mandate,” Nadda said at the function. He listed out construction of village roads, toilets, lifting 25 crore people out of poverty as some of the achievements of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
