Andy Robertson is relishing the chance to play with Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool and believes the midfielder's early arrival at Anfield will only benefit his side.
Liverpool announced the signing of Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month. The fee was undisclosed, although it is thought to be between £35m and £45m.
As the ECHO reported last month, Mac Allister was earmarked as Jurgen Klopp's primary transfer target this summer as the Reds look to rebuild their midfield ranks following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents, as well as Arthur Melo, who has returned to Juventus after his loan spell.
The midfielder was a key figure for Brighton last season, contributing 12 goals and three assists in a season that saw the club secure Europa League qualification for the first time. He also helped Argentina win their first World Cup since 1986 in Qatar in December.

And Robertson, speaking to Sky Sports News, believes the fact his side have managed to get Mac Allister through the door so early means he will be able to settle in and hit the ground running when his side kick off their new campaign.
He said: "I wish [Mac Allister] came to us a wee bit earlier to help convince him to play for Scotland earlier! He’s a fantastic player, and I’ve played against him over the past two or three years.
"He’s done some special stuff for Brighton and Argentina, being a World Cup winner and that. And he’s still relatively young.
"A really good signing for us; we’ve managed to get it done early for him for pre-season so he’ll be able to settle in and he’ll be a success at this club.
"He’s all got all the attributes, and we will help him as best as we can. I’m looking forward to seeing him; we look forward to welcoming him in the changing room, and I can’t wait to see him in a Liverpool shirt."
