Biscuit brand LU brings traditional flavours of France to UK shoppers

French biscuit brand LU is bringing a flavour of France to the UK with the launch of four delicious biscuit varieties - to coincide with National Biscuit Day celebrations. Carefully crafted to offer biscuit lovers a quintessential taste of France with every bite, the treats use simple authentic ingredients to mirror the original creations.

The delectable biscuits are available in four varieties, including Le Petit Chocolat, Le Petit Beurre, Le Petit Biscotte, and Le Petit Citron. The LU brand combines French love and passion – created by two pâtissiers who fell in love over their shared passion for baking and a desire to make the most delicious biscuits. The varieties were first produced in France during 1886.

There’s something for every occasion in the range:

  • Le Petit Beurre takes inspiration from the first LU biscuit ever made – the Véritable Petit Beurre – offering a signature taste, it’s a deliciously buttery biscuit with a hint of salt. Its iconic oblong shape took inspiration from French tea mats used at the time. The additional design flourishes carefully reflect the calendar year: 4 corner ears for the four seasons, 52 teeth for each week of the year and 24 indents for the 24 hours of each day
  • Le Petit Chocolat combines simplicity and charm by pairing the crunchy Petit Beurre biscuit with an indulgent layer of milk chocolate. This biscuit features the famous ‘Petit Ecolier’ (little schoolboy) figure, moulded into the chocolate and designed by celebrated French designer, Firmin Bouisset
  • Le Petit Citron brings a soft buttery texture and delicate lemon flavour
  • Le Petit Biscotte combines a crunchy texture with the subtle flavour of brown sugar and cinnamon

Encapsulating the romance of the French, bakers Monsieur Lefèvre and Mademoiselle Utile put the first initials of their surnames together to create LU. This celebration of passion remains in every LU biscuit made since 1846, transporting consumers to a sun-dappled square in rural Provence.

LU biscuits are available at supermarkets nationwide at an RRP of £1.50.
