Birth trauma change urged after 'free birth' inquiry

Birth trauma for women and their families is real and needs to be treated seriously, a coroner says. (Jane Dempster/AAP PHOTOS)

A coroner has called on the health system to recognise women's birth trauma after a baby girl suffered fatal complications during a home delivery.

The baby girl died at Queensland's Sunshine Coast University Hospital the day after her "free birth" at a home with no midwife present on October 20, 2024.
