Euro Grocers is expected to be a small supermarket and focus on fresh food. It will also include a butcher as well as a fishmonger.

Just the one store has been planned for now but other sites could open if the trial is a success.

The Issa brothers started out with a single petrol station in Bury, Greater Manchester, before expanding to other locations and creating Euro Garages.

They partnered with private equity giant TDR Capital to firm EG Group and buy up sites in Europe.

The brothers also worked with TDR Capital to complete their acquisition of Asda, which is separate from the wider EG Group.

BusinessLive understands the Euro Grocers store occupy 6,000 sq ft of space and also include an on-site Ambala (Indian sweets/savouries) concession.

The store will include self-checkouts and there will be about 40 car parking spaces alongside a free ATM.

BusinessLive has also been told that the project is in the early phase of design and development and an opening date is yet to be decided.
