The stunning start for the Cincinnati Bengals even has the attention of names like Bill Belichick.
An elite Joe Burrow-led offense offset by an almost historically bad defense has the Bengals at 1-4 and the talk of NFL circles.
Belichick, appearing on Pat McAfee’s show this week, seemingly agrees the Bengals are by far the best 1-4 team in the league.
“The Bengals are sitting there probably going they’re the best 1-4 team in football but they gotta start putting some wins up soon,” Belichick said. “They obviously gotta play better defense.”
What’s interesting is that Belichick also mentions some key mistakes that have nothing to do with the defense. He also called out, besides the missed field goal against the Baltimore Ravens in overtime, Joe Burrow’s costly fumble that went back for a touchdown during the loss to the Kanas City Chiefs.
Those miscues are why, at least partially, Burrow has done a good job of expressing frustration while also proclaiming that his elite offense needs to be even better.
No matter what Belichick or anybody else has to say, though, the heat on Bengals head coach Zac Taylor won’t stop, especially with players like Tee Higgins giving noteworthy interviews, too.
