Erling Haaland settled a tense Champions League quarter-final second leg at Bayern Munich with a wonderful goal on the counter-attack to make it 4-0 on aggregate.
City flew to Germany with a three-goal advantage but faced a Bayern side buoyed by their fervent home crowd and determined to mount a comeback. Pep Guardiola admitted in his press conference that he expected the German side to come out swinging and so it came to pass as the Bundesliga outfit had several chances to light the touchpaper.
Haaland had a chance to quiet the crowd just past the half-hour mark but skied his penalty over the crossbar, sending the crowd even wilder as Thomas Tuchel's side kept pushing into half-time. City enjoyed a lot more control after the break but Bayern continued to threaten.

Leroy Sane had a shot saved by Ederson, the ball almost rolling across the goal line. But a mere 14 seconds later, Kevin De Bruyne played Haaland in, and when Dayot Upamecano slipped up the Norwegian pounced and fired past Yann Sommer, shushing the now-silent crowd as he celebrated.
There was a palpable sense of relief for Haaland after the missed spot-kick, and equally so for the City fans who took to social media after the goal to celebrate.
