Big Brother host AJ Odudu 'so sad' as she confirms exit over latest TV role

AJ Odudu was announced as the new host of Big Brother, which is being rebooted by ITV, alongside TV personality Will Best but the TV move has meant the presenter will have to say goodbye to another hosting gig.

Strictly Come Dancing star AJ recently co-hosted the acclaimed revival of The Big Breakfast as well as hosting on Comic Relief and as part of the Eurovision family.

She is also known to ITV audiences having presented backstage on The Voice UK and The Voice Kids while Channel 4 viewers will know her as the host of Married At First Sight's Afters.

AJ has hosted the E4 reality spin-off since 2021 but revealed: "I can’t do it this year – I’m so sad about it. I love Married at First Sight."

"I'd love to host it again, I'm obsessed with that show but I don't know when that will happen," she told Metro.co.uk.

Last month, it was confirmed AJ and Will will host the forthcoming series of Big Brother and its companion show ahead of the show’s anticipated return to ITVX and ITV2 later this year.

Announcing the news on Instagram, AJ wrote: "This is not a drill! I’m beyond excited to finally be able to say that, I am hosting Big Brother! I couldn’t be more ecstatic to front such an iconic show and to do it alongside my amazing friend @iamwillbest is the icing on the cake. Get ready to be obsessed! Big Brother House, I’m coming to get you!"

The presenter later added in a statement confirming the news: “I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother! I couldn't be happier. Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour - and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake.”

Will remarked: “I grew up with Big Brother so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can't wait to tell some housemates not to swear.”

Meanwhile, Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning for ITV2 and ITVX, added “AJ and Will really are our perfect pairing as we prepare to reintroduce Big Brother to the next generation.

"With a genuine chemistry, both of them will bring effortless wit, charm and heaps of character to their roles and we’re delighted to be working with them both again.”
