Biden And Zelensky Commemorate D-Day In France

U.S. President Biden visits Israel amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas

US President Joe Biden and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky are currently in France to participate in the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The two leaders, along with other Western leaders and veterans, attended the ceremonies in Normandy on Thursday. Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin was not invited to the event.

Instead, Putin is scheduled to speak at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum on Friday. He is expected to discuss the state of the Russian economy following 27 months of Moscow's involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, President Zelensky will hold meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and deliver a speech at the National Assembly in Paris. Zelensky's visit aims to garner support for Ukraine in its efforts to defend against Russia's invasion.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia may have entered a new phase this month. Western countries, including the United States, have granted Ukraine permission to utilize Western weapons to target Russian territory.
