BGT fans disappointed as key element is missing as ITV show returns after two years

Britain's Got Talent fans were left disappointed as a key element was missing when the show returned to screens tonight.

Viewers were eagerly tuning into the ITV talent show tonight, which has returned to our screens after a two-year hiatus owing to the coronavirus pandemic, with viewers thrilled to see the programme back again.

However, some fans were disappointed that they weren't able to get so involved in the show, which stars Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams on the judging panel.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly returned to host the popular show, but fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment that a key element was missing from the programme after its two-year break.

"Have they got rid of the bgt app as I can’t find it #bgt," one fan questioned, as another said they couldn't find an updated version one, with the last being from 2020, adding: "I’ve got the one for 2020, just no updated version."

Another felt frustrated that they couldn't find one, sharing online: "Right here we go. #BGT back again. Oh I suppose there must be an app. Better take a look," before later adding: "Okay no app then."

Back in 2020, the show still had an app, which gave fans a chance to give their verdict on the contestants as well as watch unseen auditions and take part in special BGT-themed quizzes.

"Have you discovered the #BGT App yet? If not, you're missing out because it's packed with Unseen auditions, exclusive selfie filters, quizzes and much, much more!" the official Britain's Got Talent account wrote at the time.

This series, there is a new Golden Moments segment, where the judges surprise a member of the public, who has been unsuspectingly nominated to appear on the programme by someone close to them.

"The idea came about because a couple of years ago, it was like - there wasn't any sort of great plan, just someone said to me, will you go to this school and tell the school kids that they actually are going to be on Britain's Got Talent because they didn't know," Simon shared to The Mirror and other press about the new segment.

"I turned up at the school, they had no idea what was going on and I said to them, your teacher has applied for you to be on the show. It was really exciting and it was really fun. About a year ago, one of the producers said how about we do that with all of the judges, so we surprise someone in all different ways and tell them that someone has applied for them to be on the show."

He added: "There were four surprises, each of us had one to do. It was brilliant and we've called it a Golden Moment."

*Britain’s Got Talent continues this Sunday at 19:35 on ITV and ITV Hub.
