Best restaurants in UK revealed as Michelin Guide 2023 results announced - see full list

The best restaurants in the UK have been unveiled as the results of the Michelin Guide 2023 were announced at a ceremony this evening.

The guide conveys its restaurant reviews through short summaries and a system of symbol, with the most well-known and revered globally being the Michelin stars.

Restaurants may receive zero to three stars for the quality of their food, based on five criteria: quality of the ingredients used, mastery of flavour and cooking techniques, the personality of the chef in his cuisine, value for money and consistency between visits.

Inspectors do not consider the restaurant decor or service quality when awarding stars, but these are indicated by the number of "covers" a venue receives, represented by the fork and spoon symbol.

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London has Three Stars (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay)
Murano in London has been given One Michelin Star (Murano)

Tonight, the prestigious Michelin Stars were unveiled at the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony Great Britain & Ireland Guide 2023.

Of the eight restaurants with Three Stars, five are located in London - they are Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, CORE by Clare Smyth, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, and Sketch (The Lecture Room & Library).

Fat Duck in Bray, L'Enclume in Cartmel and the Waterside Inn in Bray were also awarded the highest number of Michelin Stars.

Last week, 20 new restaurants in the UK were awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand status for "delicious but budget" food.

The mark of quality means the eateries are serving delicious dishes but at much more affordable prices than some of the higher end gourmet restaurants that win full Michelin star status.

Midsummer House in Cambridge has two Michelin Stars (Midsummer House, Cambridge)

Since 1997 Michelin has been awarding the best value for money restaurants – offering a three course meal at a reasonable price – the Bib Gourmand.

The price limit for Bib Gourmand consideration varies from country to country, depending on the cost of living, but the inspectors are searching for the same high quality, wherever they happen to be in the world.

This is the full list of restaurants in Great Britain and Ireland with One, Two and Three Michelin Stars.
