A selection of five movies by five award-winning female Spanish filmmakers will be presented during the second edition of the "Spanish Film Festival 2022" at House Samyan of Samyan Mitrtown, Rama IV Road, from Monday to Oct 21, starting at 7pm.
Organised by the Embassy of Spain, the film festival is aimed to promote the empowerment of women and celebrate inclusiveness and gender equality through films that were acclaimed by film critics at festivals and applauded by audiences.
They include Maixabel (2021), directed by Iciar Bollaín on Monday; Summer 1993 (2017) by Carla Simón on Tuesday; Carmen & Lola (2018) by Arantxa Echevarría on Wednesday; Schoolgirls (2020) by Pilar Palomero on Thursday; and Libertad (2021) by Clara Roquet on Oct 21. Progress in gender equality in Spain has been spectacular in recent decades. However, there is still a long way to go. That's why the embassy wants the festival to offer a view of the world through the eyes of the five talented, brave, honest Spanish directors.
It hopes their work will serve as a reference and inspiration to new generations, with the aim of continuing to advance in the construction of a fairer, richer and more pluralistic society.
All movies are in Spanish, except Sumer 1993 which is in Catalan, and have English and Thai subtitles. There is no admission fee but tickets will be available at the box office two hours before the showtime.
Registration is required only for the opening day via cutt.ly/8BwntJf and online tickets should be presented at the registration desk at 6pm.
