Sherdley Park in St Helens has held some of the biggest events in the borough over the years.
Among the most well known of these was the St Helens Show, held annually at the park. Every year, generation after generation would head to Sherdley Park, the largest park in St Helens, to attend the St Helens Show, as well as famous faces such as Cilla Black and Geoffrey Hughes.
The popular event began in 1968 and continued for decades, before being briefly reinvented in the early 2000s. The St Helens Show hosted a number of shows and demonstrations, as well as music performances from well-known acts, a Miss St Helens competition, air and field displays and more.

Attracting thousands of visitors from across St Helens and beyond, it was at one point in time the "largest free show" in Europe and is still fondly remembered by residents today, who often share memories and photographs on social media.
Starting in 2014 as a small 90s themed music festival on Sherdley Park, Reminisce Festival eventually grew into a massive one day festival held annually. This year it is expected that almost 20,000 people will descend on the park for the festival on September 10.
This is despite last year's festival leaving people "fearing for their life". Revellers who hoped to party at Reminisce described their trip as a "nightmare", claiming they were met with huge queues and unsafe conditions.
Dozens of disappointed ticket holders contacted the ECHO to raise concerns last September, while the event's Facebook page was flooded with criticism. A spokesperson for the festival said those behind the event were "disappointed" with some of the problems but still proud of the show, while organiser Lee Butler added: "We really tried our best. We didn’t get it all right and trust me we will learn and fix any issues, I can promise you that."
Earlier this year, one of the oldest travelling circuses in Europe, Planet Circus dazzled crowds at Sherdley Park . Hosting aerial displays, crossbow stunts and daredevil events for ten nights in a row.
The main attraction comprises of the famous 'Globe of Death' in which up to seven FMX stunt riders drive simultaneously at almost impossible angles, while more stunt riders pull tricks as they fly over the top of the structure.
